2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD LaGrange

The Silverado 3500 HD is an all-new truck that is more than just an upgrade over the current Silverado 2500 HD. It’s a whole new truck! There’s no question that the 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD is the next generation of workhorses from this brand. For years, the Silverado has been one of the most popular and sought-after full-size trucks available on the market. It’s known for its reliability and toughness. The new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD is an attractive truck that offers convenience features paired with modern amenities. In some situations, regular full-sized trucks just aren’t sufficient for the work that must be done. This is where the Heavy-Duty series of trucks from Chevrolet comes in.

Standard Silverado light-duty trucks include 1500 in their name. However, Heavy-Duty or HD trucks include 2500 or 3500. The 1500 is a half-ton truck, with the 2500 being a three-quarter tone truck and the 3500 being a one-ton powerhouse. While this is true, the numbers are not necessarily a description of the truck’s capabilities since all the Chevy models can haul much more than what the number implies.

One of the most important things worth noting is that the 1500 is a light-duty truck designed for general driving and light hauling. The 2500 and 3500 models are for towing and hauling heavier loads. The most powerful truck that Chevrolet has to offer is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD. This year’s version is offered in several body styles and with multiple power and drive train options.

This year, there are four trim levels, including WT, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

The regular cab option is a traditional, two-door truck. If you choose the double-cab, you receive backseat space and a smaller, half-size rear door. The crew cab option includes four full-sized doors and a more spacious passenger area in the back.

Also, the crew cab models of the WT are equipped with either a long or standard cargo-box length. All of the other body styles that are available have the long box as the default option. You can also choose the WT with double or single wheels in the rear. If you choose double wheels, it provides you with more strength to haul bigger and heavier loads. Keep in mind, though, that the double wheels will only be available if you choose the long box.

All the body-style combinations are available with either two-wheel drive or with four-wheel drive.

Every trim level comes with a maximum towing capacity of around 36,000 pounds and a hauling capacity of 7,442 pounds. The maximum levels are seen with the Regular Cab models paired with the long box and two-wheel drive. Also, to see the maximum towing capacities in action, it’s necessary to include the add-on Chevrolet Max Trailering Package.

Also, the performance stats and mechanical features of the trim levels are almost identical. The main differences are seen in the safety, convenience, and cosmetic features.

On the exterior, you will find black door handles, bumpers, and exterior mirrors on this trim level.

2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD LT

MSRP: $46,095

The same body styling options are available for the LT trim that was offered with the WT trim. They also have the same power-train options (detailed above).

On the exterior of the LT, you have:

  • a set of 18-inch, six-spoke machined aluminum wheels with the same 18-inch all-terrain tires seen on the WT. You also get several extra options, including various wheel styles and sizes. It also comes with halogen reflector headlamps.
  • Unlike the WT’s black exterior features, the LT gets chrome bumpers while the door handles will match the color of the truck. The rear lights are incandescent, and there is the option to add LED fog lamps, which are a feature that isn’t available for the work truck trim.

The tailgate for the LT is the EZ Lift Assist, and there is a power lock-and-release feature. Inside, you have a 40/20/40 split-bench in the front. The driver and passenger in the front have a four-way manual adjustment, center console, and armrest.

2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD LTZ

MSRP:$54,195

The LTZ trim model can only be purchased in the Crew Cab configuration with a short or long cargo box. You have options for single or dual wheels in the rear and 2WD or 4WD.

It has the same two engines as the trims above with an upgraded Autotrac two-speed transfer case and Digital Variable Steering Assist.

On the exterior, the LTZ features

  • More chrome trim and parts, including mirror caps, bumpers, and door handles.
  • The headlights are LED reflector lamps, and it comes with LED taillights and fog lamps.
  •  The beltline and moldings are made of stainless steel, and the outside mirrors have a power adjustment and power-folding feature.

There are not too many differences offered for the High Country when it comes to engine choices, transmissions, or mechanical features. They are basically the same as what is offered with the LTZ trim options. On the exterior, the High Country comes with several wheel options. This includes a set of 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with a standard 16-spoke design.

The High Country is also equipped with:

  • Six-inch steps
  • A chrome finish.
  • The bed on this truck has a unique camera system to ensure the driver can stay focused on the road ahead.
  • You also get LED lighting in the cargo bed.
  • There is also a spray-in bed liner that provides more protection for the cargo area’s surface.
  • The refer view camera from prior trim levels has been replaced with the HD surround-vision camera.

Rather than chrome bumpers, the top-tier 3500HD has body-colored bumpers, and there is also a power tailgate and power sliding rear window and defogger.

On the interior:

  • The driver display has been made bigger with an eight-inch model, and
  • The sound system was upgraded to a premium option by BOSE (It also has seven premium speakers and a woofer included).

FAQs

Is the Chevy Silverado 3500 HD a good truck?

The Chevy Silverado 3500 HD can tow up to 36,000 pounds when properly equipped. This is a best-in-class capability and a reason why this model is going to attract a lot of attention. Many smaller trucks have towing capacities that are nowhere near this mark.

How many miles is the Chevy Silverado 3500 HD good for?

The answer is a long, long time. Treat it right, and you can easily reach 10-20 years or over 200,000 miles.

How many MPG can you get from a Chevy Silverado 3500 HD?

As a larger car with more power, the mpg is only between 10 to 18 depending on how you use this workhorse.

How many years can a Chevy Silverado last?

This depends greatly on how well you take care of your car, how much and how well you drive it, and just plain luck. Ideally, you’d want a car to last about 10 years with no major hiccups to beat depreciation.

It seems reasonable to expect your Silverado to reach that 10-year ideal. With exceptional care and maintenance, it’s also not unreasonable to hope for 20+ years.
