2023 Chevy Traverse Engine, Transmission, and Performance

A solid 3.6-liter V6 develops 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque without turbochargers or superchargers. This makes the Traverse one of the more muscular midsize SUVs. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is the standard setup, with all-wheel drive (AWD) offered as an option at every trim level. Transmission duties are handled by a 9-speed automatic.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The 2023 Traverse is powered by a robust V6 engine that makes over 300 horsepower, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard and helps you achieve maximum fuel efficiency, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. This combination allows you to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

Regular gasoline is fine. These fuel economy estimates from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) relate to 2022, but we don’t anticipate any changes for 2023.

3.6-liter V6

310 horsepower @ 6,800 rpm

266 lb-ft of torque @ 2,800 rpm

EPA city/highway fuel economy: 18/27 MPG (FWD), 17/25 MPG (AWD)

2023 Chevy Traverse Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The 2023 Traverse’s interior is well-built, but the cabin’s drab appearance and abundance of hard plastics diminish the interior’s overall appeal. It offers 23 cubic feet of room behind the third row, 57.8 cubic feet behind the second row and a maximum capacity of 98.2 cubic feet. A power liftgate and a hands-free power liftgate are available.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The infotainment setup has a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, satellite radio, Wi-Fi, six USB ports (two per row), Bluetooth for two devices, and six speakers.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

This mid-size SUV comes equipped with Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of six advanced safety features, and offers available safety. It also has driver assistance technologies like HD Surround Vision and Adaptive Cruise Control, designed to help you stay safe on your drives.
